Is it wise to skip one night of sleep a week because of my job?

Hi there I am forced to work between 2 and 7 am on Saturday nights, but have church commitments Saturday night and Sunday morning. Is it wise to just forego (not bother with) sleep altogether?

I used to be a crystal meth addict and have been on 5 and 7 day runs without sleep. I havent used meth in 3 1/2 years. I have also been in the habit anyways, (even without this job) of skipping sleep about once a week with energy drinks, for the last three years....

But because of these commitments - and the concern of friends - I am asking this question on Yahoo, hoping a sleep doctor will read it.

I seem to be able to function normally, do not drive or do anything harzardous (basically ever) anyways. I seem quite alright, if not better for some odd reason, skipping a nights sleep.

How will this affect my health? Will it at all?

Thanks

I dont know about your religion but my religion is more flexible and pragmatic, allowing us to go to church either saturday PM or anytime on sunday

Missing your daily sleep is bad for your health

BTW, congratulations on kicking your addiction
