What's wrong with my guinea pig?!?
My lovely guinea pig is nearly 4 years old and for a few weeks now she has been very smelly. She constantly smells of urine, so badly that we have had to buy some really nasty wipe things and wipe her when we cuddle her, which we don't like and she doesn't either. She does have an ovarian cyst, but I don't think that should affect the urine system??? She's never smelled at all before! Her sister is the same age, gets the same diet and spends her day in the same way, and does not smell at all.
So, what do you think is wrong?!?
Your guinea pig needs to be taken to a vet, and fast! As the person abover said, she is wetting herself and that is not good. If the vet gives you some medication for her, hopefully your pig will start to increase in health. But if the vet can't do anything, make the end of her long life as comfortable as you can. Bathe her in about 3 cm of warm water and cuddle her in a towel so your body heat will dry her. Once dry groom her coat with a metal pronged brush to get rid of excess hair. This should keep her comfortable.
