Got a teddy bear hamster today and he is chewing on the bars of his new cage! helpp! Will he get sick?
i got him today and im letting him get used to his cage and im talking to him and at the pet store he let my pet him and he did not bite and he was SO cute! his name is Sugar and he is about 10 weeks old or less! so now i see him chewing on the bars cage and he is climbing them and chew hard and he is like digging on the part of the cage where there is no begging so i am guessing he is trying to get out or something?? and he bites hard on the cage and trys to stick his head though! he has a wheel and goes on it and a chew toy and like a hut made out of food he can chew on! he has room in his cage well not a lot but he does! what is wrong with him? what should i do? is he just doing this cuz he is not used to the cage?? will he stop or get sick! help!
It's perfectly normal for hamsters to chew on the bars of the cage. Sometimes its just what they do, if you think hes bored just put in a few toys. But as i said most hamsters do this anyway. It isn't anything to worry about.
