What can you tell me about generators that automatically start when the power gos out?
I'd also like it to shut off when the power comes back for a few minutes, to automatically disconnect the the house from the power grid while it's running, and reconnect while it's running.
It will obviously need electrical start, the same kind of system that turns a car's starter off when the engine turns over, and a sizable fuel tank. It'd be in a garage about 40 feet from the house, and both buildings receive their power from a small privately owned pole in the yard that also holds the meter box.
I would also like to power the garage, but do not wish to feed the house through the pole. I think a switch that disconnects from the power grid when the generator is putting out power would be ideal. One switch could be at the garage service panel, and another at the house's service panel.
The generator will probably be connected to a gas feed from your house. The generator electrically will be connected to a switching panel where the selected breakers will be housed. There are automatic generator switching . its called a switch interlock system. It notices when the service power is in a brown out or black out state and then switches automatically.
