Is It Okay To Feed Them This? (Ferrets)?
my grandparents have to female ferrets, one silver mitt, and one sable point. and they are PICKY!
they only eat cat food, and theyve tried buying different kinds of ferret food, and they dont even touch it. all my grandparents are doing is waisting money on ferret food thats not even eaten.
is it okay if they eat cat food? thats all they eat. the cat food brand they eat is Kit'n Kaboodle. a while ago, we had an old cat that we had to feed kitten chow, and the ferrets ate that, too.
they seem to be fine with digesting this stuff. is it okay to feed them cat food, or kitten food? it seems easy to degest, they havent had any problems.
they never eat anything thats for ferrets (except for the 8 in 1 FerretVite) they eat cat food, cat sip-it milk, and other things. (usually cat food.)
is it okay for them? they have been eating this for 2-3 years.

Cat food has very poor nutrition for a ferret. Kitten foods are a step closer, but certain ferret foods (Zupreem, Sheppard and Greene as the two examples I feed my guys) are much better.
When you read the ingredients, a meat product should be the first on the list, and corn should not be in the first three ingredients. Fish oil also tends to make ferret waste stinky, so I'd avoid that.
As to how to get them to eat other food, do this. Mix in a little bit with their current food, so they start to get used to it. Add a little more the next bowl, and soon they should be eating the new stuff. Ferrets are cautious eaters, and often stick to what they know is okay. It seems instinctual.
But do get them off the cat food. It's not really that good for them.
