my ferret refuses to eat!?
She's 9 years old and seems perfectly happy. She doesn't seem at a lack for energy or strength. She started seeming a little under weight so I was supplementing her regular food with daily doses of chicken baby food (gerber second foods) and she LOVED it. She could hear me opening the jar down the hall and went crazy in anticipation. Suddenly, in the last few days she's simply stopped eating. I've tried tempting her with her favorite treats and she refuses to take more than a bite. She's losing weight really fast and has always been really tiny anyway. (She was the runt of the litter, imagine a tube of tooth paste with legs and a tail.) The only thing I get her to eat is her FerretVite. And if I mix in a little baby food I can get her to eat maybe a teaspoon of it in an entire day. I know she's older and this could just be the end of things but she just seems so happy and energetic that I just don't understand it.
There's a lot of things that can cause anorexia in ferrets. But, wow, nine years! That's great 
She needs several cc's of food a day. So, while you're waiting to get her in to see a vet, do you happen to have any needle-less syringes? If so, then you need to syringe feed her the baby food (3-4 cc's at least 3x a day). If you have a blender, or the patience to hand mash, you can grind kibble and other good things for a homemade 'duck soup'. Make enough to last several feedings and stick it in the fridge. You can then reheat portions in a bowl of hot water (or the microwave, but you need to check very carefully for hotspots).
