The half moon bird [conure]?
Ok, so I'm going to get the half moon bird [conure, so to speak] and do you reccommend making it a natural habitat within a large cage? (ie: natural branches, twigs and grass to perhaps make a nest?) I want it to look natural since I'm going to get a male and a female and if they ever mate, will they make a nest..or do they make nests at all?
Leave the grass out. It will just be a chew toy that can grow mold.
Natural wood branches, as long as they are safe woods, are perfectly fine. Parrots should not be allowed to try to breed until at least two years old. Parrots also nest in hollow trees, we use nest boxes in captivity.
Please, before you allow them to breed, learn to handfeed from a breeder or a vet, have them in top phisical form and have them on a good breeders diet for at least six months. You don't want either one of your birds to die from either egg binding or disease from not being in top form. Raising chicks for a single bird is near impossible.
