How to wean a bird? GREEN CHEEK CONURE D:?
My dad is taking care of my now 11 week old GCC conure ( who is not weaned yet)back in the states.. He refuses to eat by himself, my dad tries to give him people food(veggies,fruits,bread, cheerios..) but he wont take them, he is on 2 feedings a day, some tips on how we could wean him ( i know it'll take a bit of time.. but we just wanna make him more independent)
Tips, please.D: I guarantee 10 points. :}
Also my dad has been giving him millet, and there are 2 bowls on his cage, (a normal feeder) and on the bottom there is one also.
Im thinking of buying him some of this and have it shipped to my dad

I miss him pretty bad, but I cant see him until he is weaned, (my dad will ship it to me)
I have already bought him a really big cage, and alot of toys.
Wow, I've never heard of it taking that long for a Green Cheek to wean, both of mine were weaned by 6 weeks. Are they eating any real food? If so, then they'll eat when they are hungry, right now he may be milking the attention he's getting. The millet is good as an enticement but has no nutritional value so as soon as your dad see's him eating that, that's a good indicator he'll eat. Have your dad sit down with him, with his bowls of fruit, veggies, pellets...whatever, even some pasta and see if he just likes the company while he eats. Birds are funny and very smart, my Stanly likes me to hold him while he naps, now that's being wrapped around the talon.
